Few social-sharing apps can match the fun of Snapchat. After all, who doesn’t like to send the occasional goofy snap to a friend? Throw in some funky selfie filters and artsy location-aware stickers, and it’s easy to get addicted—especially with the knowledge that the images will disappear after a few seconds. (Usually.)
How to permanently delete your Snapchat account
But what if you want a break from the endless snapping and chatting? What if you want some good old privacy? This guide will show you how to permanently delete your Snapchat account. (If you have second thoughts, you have 30 days to reactivate a deleted Snapchat account. After that, it is gone.)
1. Go to Snapchat’s account portal (https://accounts.snapchat.com/accounts/delete_account).
This page can also be accessed by going to Snapchat.com, scrolling to the bottom of the page and selecting “Support.” Then go to “My Account & Security” and click “Account Information.” Finally, select “Delete An Account.”
2. Enter your username and password.
3. Enter the security code sent to the phone number linked to the account and click “Submit.”
4. Enter your username and password again. Then, click “Continue” and your account will be deactivated.
